The tricolor will be hoisted for the first time in 76 years on Friday in nine remote villages of Naxal-affected Bastar region in Chhattisgarh. This is a sign of decreasing influence of Naxalites and improvement in security scenario in these areas. According to the police, flag hoisting has never taken place in these villages since 1947. But on Friday, when the villagers of these villages will celebrate Republic Day with the rest of the country, the situation will change.
