Ranchi, Abhishek Roy : Prasenjit Kumar of Dantu Bokaro wanted to do something new in the field of agriculture. Due to his deep interest in herbs, he studied B.Sc Agriculture from Jharkhand Rai University. However, instead of joining the job, Prasenjeet focused on his own startup. Stevia (sweet basil) was introduced in the course of research on trees and plants. He ordered its leaves from Rajasthan for Rs.150. Prasenjit says that stevia can be used as a substitute for sugar. It contains fewer calories than sugar. Its use reduces weight, as well as helps in keeping the blood sugar level normal. In the beginning, he started using it at home, due to which the diabetes of the family members also got balanced.

Seeing the benefits of Stevia, Prasenjeet started his startup ‘Jeevan Bodh Agrotech’. In 2019, Stevia plants were prepared by preparing a poly house at home. But Stevia’s genes were not fruitful in the soil of Jhakhand. After research, took one acre of land for contract farming in Madhya Pradesh. The crop was ready within three months. Started selling stevia by doing door-to-door campaign by packaging it myself. Over time, the startup was launched on the business-to-customer (B-to-C) model. Prasenjit says that it cost Rs 1.20 lakh to get farming done for the first time in MP. There was profit after the crop was ready.

After this, increasing the plant culture, started cultivating it in 30 acres. Stevia’s crop is ready four times in a year, making it easy to grow its business. At present, Stevia of Jeevan Bodh Agrotech is being made available in the market of 10 big states of the country- Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Bengal. Due to this the company is now on the profit of multi million.

With the better response the startup got over time, Prasenjeet decided to expand the business. Connected father Vivekananda, brothers Praveer and Sameer Kumar and sister Akanksha Kumari with business and laid the foundation of Jeevanbodh Industries. Started scrubber manufacturing under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP). Today they are providing employment to hundreds of people.
