The body of a missing engineering student was recovered from a pond in Narendrapur police station area of South 24 Parganas. Angered by this, the local people demonstrated fiercely. The policemen who came to the spot also had to face opposition from them. The situation became so tense that the police officers had to return. People have accused the police of inaction in investigating the case. However, the police have denied this. Later other police officers reached the spot and after much effort the situation became normal. The deceased has been identified as Aparam Das. Family members have expressed suspicion of murder. The police is busy investigating the matter.

According to the information, Aparam was a resident of Mahamayatala area located in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal. On Thursday he left home to go to some program. Since then he was not known. Police registered a missing case. Aparam’s family members also requested senior police officers to investigate the matter. Meanwhile, Aparam’s body was recovered from a pond in Dhalipada area on Sunday. The police contacted the family for his identification.

The protesters said that if promptness had been shown in locating the student, he might not have died. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation. Also, the body has been sent for post-mortem. A police officer said that the cause of death will be known only after receiving the post-mortem report of the body.
