BJP’s protest against Sandeshkhali violence, 12-hour bandh today against arrest of CPI(M) leader

Kolkata, Manoranjan Singh: Police has also come into action mode amid public anger in Sandeshkhali area of ​​North 24 Parganas of West Bengal. The uproar further increased after the arrest of CPI(M) leader and former MLA of the area Nirapad Sardar on Sunday (February 11). CPI(M) has called for a 12-hour bandh on Monday (February 12) in protest against the arrest of former Sandeshkhali MLA Nirapad Sardar. A statewide agitation has also been announced.

Nirapad Sardar arrested on complaint of Shibu Hazra

He was taken to the local police station from his house in Bansdroni on Sunday morning. He was interrogated for several hours at Bansdroni police station. At around 3 pm, five police officers from Basirhat and Sandeshkhali police stations came to Bansdroni police station. After this the former CPI(M) MLA was arrested and taken to Basirhat police station. It is being told that Nirapad Sardar has been arrested on the complaint of absconding Trinamool Congress leader Shivprasad alias Shibu Hazra.

CPI(M) calls for bandh in two blocks of Sandeshkhali

On the other hand, CPI(M) has called for a 12-hour bandh in Sandeshkhali Block No. 1 and 2 on Monday against the arrest of the former MLA. On Monday, CPI(M) supporters will take out rallies across the state to express their protest. We will also surround various police stations across the state.

CPI(M) MLA said – was not in the area from 4th to 9th February

At the same time, in the police station premises, Nirapad Sardar said that he was not in the area from February 4 to 9. The police could not show any document as to why he was arrested. Questioning the role of the police, he said that atrocities and grave injustice are taking place in Sandeshkhali. The former MLA expressed hope that the people of Sandeshkhali will unite against police atrocities.

CPI(M) will surround many police stations

After receiving the news of the arrest of Nirapad Sardar, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya and CPI(M) leader Mohammad Salim reached Bansdroni police station. Both the leaders expressed their objection to this attitude of the state government and strongly condemned the police action. At the same time, CPI(M) supporters demonstrated strongly in front of many police stations including Bansdroni, calling the arrest of the former MLA illegal and demanding his immediate release. Rallies were also taken out in many areas. CPI(M) also announced to protest outside various police stations of the state on Monday.

Section 144 still in force, situation tense

The situation in Sandeshkhali is still tense. Section 144, imposed from Friday night, remained in force on Sunday also. Shops and markets remained closed in eight gram panchayat areas of Sandeshkhali Block-2. Internet services also remained halted. A large number of policemen have been deployed in Sandeshkhali police station area. Police are continuously patrolling the areas. Police is keeping a close watch on all the routes (water and road) leading to Sandeshkhali. Naka checking has been installed on all main routes.

BJP’s demonstration across the state against Sandeshkhali incident

A memorandum was submitted to Bhatpara police station on behalf of Bhatpara BJP Mahila Morcha in protest against the atrocities being committed on women by the leaders of the ruling party in Sandeshkhali. BJP workers and supporters including Mahila Morcha Mandal leader Indrani Tiwari, Veena Singh, Saraswati Hari, Urmila Devi and Bhatpara Mandal President Gopal Kumar Sao were present on the occasion. Gopal Kumar Sao said that the way Trinamool leaders have been accused of torturing people in Sandeshkhali, it has become clear that despite having a woman Chief Minister in the state, this government is anti-women.

BJP’s protest in front of Laketown police station

Laketown police station was surrounded by BJP on Sunday regarding the incident in Sandeshkhali of North 24 Parganas. The gherao was carried out jointly by Vidhannagar Mandal 3 and 4. On this occasion, Mandal 3 President Dhurvanil Biswas and Mandal 4 President Vishwas Mandal and other BJP workers were present.

Demonstration of BJP’s Mahila and Yuva Morcha in Paschim Medinipur and Jhargram

In Paschim Medinipur and Jhargram districts too, BJP’s Mahila and Yuva Morcha members protested on Sunday against the harassment of women by Trinamool-backed goons in Sandeshkhali. Hundreds of BJP Mahila and Yuva Morcha workers took to the streets and protested. Slogans were raised against the police and Trinamool during the protest. A lot of anger was seen among BJP workers during the protests in Gurgudipal and Jhargram city of West Medinipur district.

Demonstration in Howrah also

On Sunday, under the leadership of State BJP Mahila Morcha President Falguni Patra, BJP women workers took out a rally and surrounded Golabari police station in protest against the atrocities and harassment on women in Sandeshkhali. A memorandum was also submitted to the station in-charge. Falguni said that videos of some women have surfaced from Sandeshkhali. They have accused Trinamool Congress leaders of rape. This is shameful and especially when the Chief Minister of this state is herself a woman. He said that the agitation will continue in the entire state until Sheikh Shahjahan and other accused are arrested. At the same time, women activists also surrounded Bentra police station regarding the same issue.
