Birhor woman dies after delivery in Chatra, villagers accuse health department of negligence

Chatra: A woman from Sheetalpur Birhor Tola of Pathalgadda block of Chatra district died during delivery late on Sunday night. While the newborn has been admitted to Sadar Hospital Chatra, where he is undergoing treatment. The woman was Babita Devi, 35-year-old wife of Shukar Birhor.

After the incident, the villagers informed Dhananjay Tiwari, chairman of the Child Welfare Committee. Dhananjay Tiwari admitted the newborn to the hospital with the help of health workers. Even after the death of the woman, no official or people from the health department reached Birhor Tola. On which the villagers expressed their displeasure. Death due to negligence of health department

Villagers say that the woman died due to the negligence of the health department. If the woman had been treated on time, her life could have been saved. The villagers have expressed their displeasure against the medical in-charge of the health department, Dr. Sumit Jaiswal, alleging that he never comes to Pathalgada nor receives anyone’s phone call. People demanded the Deputy Commissioner to investigate the matter and take action against negligent health workers. Also demanded to give appropriate compensation to the dependents of the deceased. In this regard, BDO Rahul Dev said that government assistance will be given to the family of the deceased.
