Biporjoy Cyclone Updates: According to the latest information given by the Meteorological Department (IMD) about the cyclone ‘Biparjoy’, the cyclonic storm weakened and at 11.30 am about 310 km south-west of Porbandar, 320 km south-west of Devbhoomi Dwarka, 380 km south-southeast of Jakhau Port. It lay centered over southwest and will cross Jakhau Port (Gujarat) by June 15 evening. Here, a detailed evacuation plan has been made in Gujarat amidst the possibility of storm ‘Biparjoy’ knocking in Gujarat on June 15. On Monday, the administration has shifted 7,500 people to safer places.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had told that during the cyclone, there is a possibility of wind blowing at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour in Gujarat. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the preparedness of the Center and the Gujarat government to deal with the situation arising out of the cyclone. He said that rescue teams are ensuring the safe evacuation of people living in vulnerable places in the path of cyclone ‘Biparjoy’. There is a possibility of this cyclone affecting Pakistan as well.

Delhi will get relief from the heat

According to private forecasting agency Skymet Weather, Delhiites can expect some respite from the heat in the coming days as light rain is expected in the national capital on Thursday and Friday due to the impact of fast-moving cyclone Biperjoy in the Arabian Sea.

3 teams from the Center have come to us: Relief Commissioner

Alok Kumar Pandey (Relief Commissioner, Gujarat) said that in view of cyclone Biparjoy, the state government, the central government is on alert. We have 12 NDRF teams and they are deployed in Kutch, Porbandar, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Morbi and Rajkot districts. 3 teams from the center have come to us and they have been kept in reserve in Rajkot, Gandhidham, Kutch.

Special vigilance is being exercised in Gujarat’s Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagadh and Morbi. National and State Disaster Response Force teams have been kept ready in the affected districts. The administration is in touch with the Army, Navy and Indian Coast Guard. Indian Coast Guard and Navy have deployed ships and helicopters for relief, search and rescue operations.

‘Bipperjoy’ can last longest in Arabian Sea

According to IMD data, ‘Biparjoy’ may become the longest-lived cyclonic storm in the Arabian Sea. The duration of this cyclone is about seven days and 12 hours. IMD said the duration of 2019 extremely severe cyclone ‘Kyarr’ over the Arabian Sea was nine days and 15 hours. It developed over east-central Arabian Sea and weakened over southwest Arabian Sea. The Meteorological Department said that after 1965, this would be the third cyclone to hit Gujarat in June. Based on the data from 1965 to 2022, for the month of June, 13 cyclones developed over the Arabian Sea. Two of these crossed the Gujarat coast.
