The IMD said in a tweet that the cyclonic storm Biporjoy over the east-central Arabian Sea will become more severe. The department has expressed the possibility of moving north-eastwards during the next 24 hours. Due to this, there is a possibility of getting relief in those areas too, where people have been troubled by the heat these days.

Yellow alert has been issued in many districts of Kerala. People of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Kannur have been appealed to be vigilant. According to the Meteorological Department, due to the cyclone, very high waves can rise in the sea till June 10 in the coastal areas of Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa. However, people in the southern districts of the state will probably continue to grapple with the scorching heat till June 13. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in the sub-Himalayan districts of West Bengal – Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and Alipurduar and Sikkim till June 10 and then very heavy rains till June 13.
