Anupam Kumar, Patna. Bihta Airport tender will be floated next month and its work will start in February. The proposal for Bihta Airport had received financial approval in the month of July itself. Now it has also received administrative approval and the process of issuing tender has been started. Its tender is likely to be out in the first week of next month. The tender will open in the first week of February and it is likely to be allotted by mid-February and construction work will start by the end of February.

Acquisition process of eight acres additional land completed

In the first phase, the state government has given 126 acres of land for the construction of civil enclave at Bihta Airport. Of these, 108 acres of land has been given for the construction of the terminal building and 18 acres of land has been given for the construction of the State Hangar. Apart from this, demand for eight more acres of land was made for the construction of the terminal building because parking building for air passengers could not be constructed in the given 108 acres of land. Now the state government has also completed the acquisition process of this additional land and only its notification is to be issued. By the end of this month, this land will also be handed over to the Airport Authority by issuing a notification.

Four kilometer long boundary wall is ready

The Airport Authority has surrounded the 108 acres of land given by the state government with an eight feet high and four km long boundary wall by spending Rs 7 crore. Only a small tip of 400 meters is left at the north-western end where it is going to get eight acres of additional land. After getting the land, a boundary wall will be built there also.

Terminal will be built by spending Rs 1453 crore

This new air terminal will be built in Bihta by spending Rs 1453 crore. Earlier its budget was Rs 800 crore but due to delay of almost five years in starting the construction work, the budget had to be increased to Rs 1453 crore. With this amount, a huge airport terminal with a capacity of 25 lakh is being built here. Initially it will be a one storey building, which if needed can be made two storey and its capacity can be increased to Rs 50 lakh per annum. Along with the terminal building, 10 parking bays will be built here for the planes to stand and five aerobridges will be built for the passengers to reach the planes. Along with this, three conveyor belts will also be installed to transport the goods. A huge multi-storey parking building with a parking capacity of one thousand vehicles will also be built here.

The project will be completed by February 2027

The construction of Bihta Airport will take three years. Earlier its construction was to start in December 2018 and be completed in December 2021. Now this project will start in February 2024 and its construction will be completed by February 2027.

It will be easy to reach Bihta through Danapur Bihta elevated road.

After the construction of Civil Enclave at Bihta Air Force Station, the number of people coming and going from Patna to Bihta to catch the flight will increase. In view of this, Danapur Bihta elevated road is being constructed so that people will be able to reach Bihta Airport easily and without getting stuck in traffic jams. The target is to complete this elevated road project by June 2025. Due to delay in land acquisition, there is a delay in starting work on this. Despite this, it will be completed before the construction of Bihta Airport is completed in February 2027.
