Bihar’s GST collection increased by 18.13 percent

Patna. The Commercial Tax Department of Bihar has achieved unprecedented success in GST collection. The department has collected tax of Rs 1058 crore under SGST cash head in 2023-24, which is the highest monthly SGST collection so far in the last seven years. Not only this, last year the Commercial Tax Department of Bihar Government registered an increase of 18.13 percent in GST collection. During the same period, there was an increase of 16 percent in Uttar Pradesh, eight percent in Jharkhand and seven percent in West Bengal.

Total collection Rs 38,161 crore

According to the information, the total tax collection of the Commercial Tax Department in March 2024 was also Rs 5403.15 crore, which is the highest monthly collection of any month so far. In the year 2022-23, a total of Rs 34,541 crore was collected by the department under GST and non-GST items, whereas in 2023-24, a total of Rs 38,161 crore was collected by the department.

Big contribution of data analysis in revenue collection

State Tax Commissioner cum Secretary of Commercial Tax Department, Dr. Pratima said that this achievement has been achieved by the department due to the tireless efforts of the departmental officials. Data analysis has a major contribution in this revenue collection. For this, a special cell has been created in the department. Today, data from various government departments is available with the department and to increase the revenue, the data received from various departments, especially the work department and the finance department, is thoroughly analyzed. He expressed hope that the department will work with the same energy and enthusiasm in the coming financial year also. He said that only with the cooperation of the taxpayers, the tax collection of the department in the financial year 2017-18 was Rs 17,236 crore, which has increased to Rs 38,161 crore today.
