Bihar’s 94000 Asha workers will return to work, strike ends after meeting Tejashwi Yadav

Asha workers and Asha facilitators, who went on strike since July 12 in Bihar, have announced to end the strike on Saturday. Asha workers have taken this decision after talks with the government. These health workers, who work among the public at the local level, will now return to their respective jobs. According to the information received from the sources, the government has assured to consider their demands sympathetically and take appropriate decisions.

ASHA workers Will get monthly honorarium of twenty five hundred rupees

ASHA workers of the state will now get a monthly honorarium of Rs.2500. Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has given this assurance to the ASHA workers in a meeting. Due to this, there will be a burden of Rs 180 crore annually on the exchequer of the state government.

Tejashwi Yadav assured to increase the honorarium two and a half times

On Saturday, Asha Karyakartas Sangh met Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. In this meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has assured to increase the honorarium of ASHA workers by two and a half times. Apart from this, officials of the Health Department of the State Government will communicate with the Ministry of Health to consider other demands related to the Central Government. Along with this, the ASHA workers announced to call off their strike.

Asha workers went on strike for these demands

  • 90,000 Asha and 4,000 Asha facilitators in the state were on an indefinite strike since July 12 for their nine-point demands.

  • ASHA workers – The word ‘reward’ mentioned in the government resolution regarding Rs 1000 monthly payable to ASHA facilitators from the state fund should be changed to a fixed monthly honorarium and it should be increased to Rs 10,000.

  • According to the government’s resolution, the monthly arrears of Rs 1000 for this item for the financial year 19-20 (from April 19 to November 20) should be paid as soon as possible.

  • All the outstanding amount should be paid before starting the payment from Ashwin portal.

  • Asha workers – Incentives payable to Asha facilitators – Uniformity – transparency should be brought in it including updated payment of monthly reward amount. Along with this, there should be a strict ban on commission.

  • Blouse, petticoat and woolen coat should be arranged along with the saree given to the ASHAs. Along with this, the dress for the facilitator should also be determined and its amount should be paid.

  • Asha workers and Asha facilitators should be given the status of government employees

  • Due to Corona, the dead hopes and facilitators should be paid 4 lakhs of the state scheme and 50 lakhs of the central insurance scheme.

  • ASHA worker-ASHA facilitator should also be given the benefit of social security scheme, pension scheme

  • According to the agreement of January 2019, other non-implemented points should be implemented soon, including withdrawal of lawsuits.

65 types of work are done with hope

It is known that the state government gives a reward of one thousand rupees to the Asha facilitator, while the amount of field visits is given by the central government at the rate of six hundred rupees per day. The facilitator gets a total of seven thousand. Similarly, the ASHA worker is given a reward of two thousand rupees from the central government and one thousand rupees from the state government. Apart from this, 65 types of works are taken from ASHA, for which different amounts are given as incentives for different programmes. Now the government will consider their demands.

Sangh gave information in a press conference

On the other hand, Bihar State Asha Workers Association (GOP faction-ACTU) President Shashi Yadav said in a press conference on Saturday that now Asha and Asha Facilitators have also become honorarium workers of the state government, to be called honorarium workers will affect the self-respect and self-esteem of one lakh Asha workers of Bihar. It is a matter of their dignity. He said that a positive decision has been taken on all the arrears, increasing the amount in the dress, withdrawal of lawsuits and other demands.
