Bihar Weather News: The outbreak of cold has now increased in Bihar. The maximum temperature in Bhagalpur district fell to 14 degrees, which was lower than the maximum temperature in Shimla on Tuesday. The coldest day of the season was Tuesday. In view of the increasing cold, studies up to class 8 have been stopped in all schools. These classes will not run till January 20. There is a possibility of light rain in Bhagalpur and surrounding districts between January 17 and 18. The Meteorological Department has given this information.
Cold wave outbreak continues in Bhagalpur district
The cold wave outbreak in Bhagalpur district continued on Tuesday also. The effect of cold increased due to absence of sunlight for the third consecutive day. On Tuesday, cold westerly wind continued to blow throughout the day. Due to cold, people came out of their homes only for essential purposes. To protect against Kankani, heaters and bonfires kept burning in homes. There was fog throughout the day.
Bhagalpur is colder than Jammu and Shimla.
On Tuesday, the day’s maximum temperature dropped by three degrees and reached 14 degrees. The minimum temperature was eight degrees. Tuesday was the coldest day of this season. The difference between maximum and minimum temperature was only six degrees. In 2023, the maximum temperature recorded on January 10 was 13.4 degrees and on January 6, the maximum temperature fell to 14 degrees. The maximum day temperature in Jammu was recorded at 14 degrees and in Shimla the day temperature was recorded at 18.2 degrees. That means it was colder in Bhagalpur during the day than in Jammu and Shimla.

Dr. Sunil Kumar, Nodal Officer of Rural Agriculture Meteorological Service of BAU Sabour, said that there may be light rain or drizzle in Bhagalpur and surrounding districts between January 17 and 18. It will remain cold in Bhagalpur between 17th to 21st January. There is a possibility of slight increase in maximum temperature. There will be fog in the morning, there will be light sunshine during the day. There is a possibility of western wind blowing during this period. Farmers should avoid spraying any kind of wheat in strong winds. Stop irrigation of wheat and vegetables. There is a possibility of late blight disease in the potato crop, hence keep monitoring.
Minimum temperature record not broken:
The record of minimum temperature has not been broken so far this season. Last Sunday the minimum temperature was five degrees. Whereas on January 2, the minimum temperature had reached six degrees. Whereas on January 3, 2019, the minimum temperature of the district had fallen to 3.6 degrees. Whereas on January 14, 2017, the minimum temperature was 3.9 degrees. On January 5, 2019, the minimum temperature was recorded at four degrees.

The situation of air pollution in the district remained very serious on Tuesday. Due to increase in the amount of dust particles in the air, the air quality index of Mayaganj area of the city reached 414. Due to pollution, people are having trouble breathing.
