Railways increased safety measures

Keeping the fog in mind, Railways has increased the safety measures. In this regard, Sonpur’s DRM Vivek Bhushan Sood said that as soon as winter arrives, the operation of trains starts getting affected. Due to fog and bad weather, the delay in trains ranges from a few minutes to several hours. In such situations, passengers face problems. Railways is continuously working to provide relief from such problems faced by passengers during cold weather. For this, Railways has decided to install fog safe devices in all the engines, so that trains can be run on time. For smooth operation of trains, provision of fog safe device has been made for loco pilots of 100% mail, express and passenger trains of East Central Railway. Fog Safe Device is a GPS based device, which warns the loco pilot of the upcoming signal, due to which the loco pilot controls the speed of the train.

Fog man deployed

Besides, fog men are also being deployed for security, who will monitor the signal status on the railway line during fog. To prevent railway line fractures and identify them in time, continuous patrolling is being done by railway personnel under the supervision of senior officials. GPS trackers have been provided to linemen and patrolmen, which provide for their own safety as well as the facility to send information immediately in special situations. To increase the visibility of signals, signal sighting boards, fog signal posts and lifting barriers at busy level crossings have also been made brighter by painting them with a special colour.
