The famous ‘Jardalu Mango’ of Bhagalpur district of Bihar is famous not only in the country but all over the world due to its unique fragrance. This variety of mango is known for its light yellow peel and sweetness. This mango is named Jardalu because of its yellow color when ripe. It is said that this mango was first brought and planted in Bhagalpur area by Maharaja Rehmat Ali Khan of Kharagpur. In the year 2018, Geographical Indication (GI) tag was given to Jardalu of Bhagalpur. There are large scale orchards of this mango in Sultanganj, Navgachia of Bhagalpur district and its surrounding areas. Its kernels are very thin and there is little fiber in the pulp. ‘Zarda’ mango grown in the area of ​​West Champaran is also more or less like Jardalu. It is also named Jarda because of its yellow color when ripe.

Sitamarhi’s Bambaiya mango is special

Bambaiya mango of Sitamarhi and surrounding areas is famous in the entire country. It is sent on a large scale to different parts of the country. It is an early ripening variety as compared to Langra or Malda. Usually it starts ripening in the month of June. When Bombayia is ripe, the color near the stalk turns slightly yellow. Whereas, the rest of the mango remains green. The yield of this variety of mango is high. However, its fruit is of medium size (up to 150-200 grams). Its pulp is also without fiber. This is a mango with medium sweetness. Its aroma is definitely intense.

Famous Gulabkhas Mango of Supaul

Its name already has something special attached to it. Only from this you can guess the taste of this mango. This is one of the major varieties of mango grown in Bihar. This fruit is especially abundant in Supaul and surrounding areas. There is a light pink glow on a part of its peel, which is why its name is Gulabkhas. Its fruit is definitely small in size, its kernels are also small in proportion. This mango is also known for its fragrance. When fully ripe, it tastes very sweet.

Chausa has become the identity of Buxar

The story of naming this mango is very interesting. In fact, Sher Shah Suri had defeated Humayun in the battle in Chausa village situated in Buxar district. In celebration of this victory, Sher Shah Suri named his favorite mango as Chausa. In this way, this Chausa mango and Buxar became connected with each other in such a way that the identity of Buxar got linked with this mango. Even in terms of taste, it is slightly different from other varieties of mangoes. This is a late ripening mango variety. The peels of this mango are yellow. Also the size of the fruit is quite large. It comes in the general market by the end of July.

Bathua mango of Samastipur is famous

Orchards of this variety of mango are found in abundance in the areas around Vaishali and Samastipur. This mango is also known as Kanchan Malda mango. Actually, this variety of mango becomes golden in color when ripe. Apart from these mangoes, Kalkatiya of Darbhanga, Krishna Bhog mango of Madhubani, Malda of Madhepura and Katihar, Churamba Malda of Munger, Dudhiya Malda mango of Patna are the famous varieties of mangoes of Bihar.
