The construction of roads in total length of 13,962.83 km is likely to be completed by the end of 2025 to provide road connectivity to 10,942 missing habitations in all 38 districts of Bihar. This includes 7209 missing habitations with a population of 100 or more and about 3733 missing habitations with a population of 250 or more. All these habitations will be given perennial single connectivity. The Rural Affairs Department has started work in this direction. Whereas NH 527A Madhubani to Supaul road will be improved. Its approval has been given by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The tender process has also started.
Rural roads will be built..
According to sources, 8283 km long rural roads will be built to provide road connectivity to 7209 missing habitations with population of 100 or more. Its estimated cost is around Rs 9038.73 crore. Out of this, at present administrative approval has been received from the Rural Works Department to build roads in length of 1829 km. The target is to construct rural roads of total length of 1360 km in the financial year 2024-25. Along with this, to provide road connectivity to the remaining 3733 habitations with population of 250 or more, a road of about three thousand km length will be built in 2024-25.
The number of settlements will also increase
According to sources, so far a total of 1 lakh 18 thousand 348 habitations have been given rural road connectivity in the state. For this, about one lakh 15 thousand 203 km of rural roads have been constructed. In such a situation, if the missing habitations get connectivity with rural roads, then the number of such habitations will increase to 1 lakh 29 thousand 290. Also, for this the total length of roads will increase to 1 lakh 29 thousand 165 km.
Villagers and farmers will benefit
The purpose of providing rural road connectivity to the abandoned habitations is to improve the transportation system in rural areas. Along with this, rural roads are being connected to main roads through other different schemes. This will make it easier for villagers to go to schools, hospitals and government offices. Besides, farmers will also get convenience in traveling to grain markets. There will be better development of rural areas.
NH 527A Madhubani to Supaul road will be improved
On the other hand, NH 527A will be improved in the state. Its approval has been given by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Also, the process of selection of construction agency through tender has started. This road mainly provides connectivity to two districts. This includes Madhubani and Supaul districts. This road passes from Pokhrauni Chowk in Madhubani district via Madhubani, Rampatti, Jhanjharpur, Samiye Chowk, Awam, Laufa, Rahuna-Sangram, Bheja, Bakour and Parasarma. In such a situation, this is an important road of Seemanchal area. Currently, this road will be improved from Pokhrauni Chowk to Jhanjharpur in Madhubani district, about 28 km in length.
Know when the work will be completed
According to sources, the repair of this road is likely to start after the rainy season this year and be completed by 2026. The approval of the Central Government for the repair of this road was awaited for a long time. Now, after getting its approval from the Center and starting the process of selection of construction agency through tender, its construction will start. With the construction of this road, it will take less time for people to travel.
