Bihar News: Big relief to suspended IPS Aditya Kumar from Patna High Court, FIR canceled in this case

Gaya’s former SSP and suspended IPS officer Aditya Kumar, who was made an accused in Gaya’s Fatehpur liquor case, has got a big relief from Patna High Court. The court has canceled the FIR registered against him in the Fatehpur liquor case of Gaya district. Justice Satyavrat Verma gave this direction while hearing the criminal petition filed by Aditya Kumar. In this case, an appeal was filed in Patna High Court on behalf of Aditya Kumar.

There is an allegation of calling the DGP in the name of the Chief Justice to get this case quashed.

It is noteworthy that to end this liquor scandal case, Aditya Kumar is accused of making a WhatsApp call to former state DGP Sanjeev Kumar Singhal in the name of the then Chief Justice of Patna High Court. Based on the statement of the former DGP in this case, the Economic Offenses Unit had filed an FIR against Aditya Kumar last year. Aditya Kumar’s anticipatory bail plea in the FIR registered in the case of making a call to the DGP in the name of the Chief Justice has been rejected from the lower court to the Supreme Court. At the same time, on the order given by the Supreme Court on 5 December 2023, Aditya Kumar surrendered in the lower court of Patna. After this he was sent to judicial custody till 18 December. Since then he is lodged in Beur jail of Patna.

What did Aditya Kumar’s lawyer say?

Here, in the High Court, Aditya Kumar’s advocate SD Sanjay said that in the report that has come from the police headquarters on the Fatehpur liquor scandal, it has been called a mistake of law. It also says that no case is made out against Aditya Kumar. He said that on the basis of the closure report submitted by the police, the court has also accepted that no case is made out against Aditya Kumar in this matter. In this case, an FIR was registered against Aditya Kumar in Fatehpur police station of Gaya under the Prohibition Act on 28 May 2022. It is noteworthy that Aditya Kumar has been granted anticipatory bail in this case.

The Economic Offenses Unit interrogated for eight hours

Let us tell you that two days ago the Economic Offenses Unit had taken Aditya Kumar on remand and interrogated him thoroughly. During this interrogation which lasted for about eight hours, the EOU team asked many questions, but Aditya kept denying all the allegations against him. During interrogation, EOU officials also asked Aditya for his old mobile phone. On this Aditya said that the mobile phone was lost somewhere. He rejected the talk of friendship with Abhishek Aggarwal and said that he had a general acquaintance with him. On the question of making a lobbying call to the then DGP, Aditya said that I did not do so. I was not going to get any benefit from this. If there was any benefit then the departmental action against me would have ended. Even today departmental action is going on against me. Prosecution is going on against me. I am suspended.
