In Darbhanga, father, grandfather and maternal uncle, angry over their daughter’s love affair, strangled the girl to death. After the murder, an attempt was made to destroy the evidence by cutting the body into pieces with an axe, placing it in a plastic bag and burning it. The police has revealed this heinous murder that took place in Mangarathu village of Kamtaul police station area.
Application given to police for daughter’s murder on February 4
City SP Shubham Arya said on Thursday that on February 4, an application was given to the police on behalf of Mangarathu resident Shyam Das. In this, an unknown person was accused of murdering his daughter by burning her in straw. The police registered the case and started investigation. SSP Jagunath Reddy Jalareddy formed a team to investigate and uncover the matter.
The family was angry with the love affair
City SP said that the formed team was successful in uncovering the matter with the help of FSL and Technical Branch. During the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased was having an affair with someone. This was explained to him several times by his family members. The girl was not ready to listen to her family members. Angered by this, the girl’s father Shyam Das spoke to his father Mahesh Das and relative Shatrughan Das. The father called his brothers-in-law Soharat Das and Ajit Das.
The dead body was placed in a pile of straw and set on fire.
On February 3, everyone together murdered the girl. After this, the dead body was cut into pieces with an axe, and packed in a sack. The body of another person was placed in a pile of straw located at some distance from the house and set on fire. The next day, when the body was recovered from the ashes, the deceased’s father Shyam Das lodged a case in the police station.
Police arrested all three
While doing scientific research, the police arrested all three. City SP said that two accused Soharat Das and Ajit Das are absconding. Raids are being conducted for his arrest.
Weapon used in murder recovered
City SP said that the weapons (axe), iron rods etc. used in the incident have been recovered from the house of the arrested accused. During the investigation, the deceased’s silver chain, anklets, blood stained soil, Shyam Das’s blood stained cloth, deceased’s tooth etc. have been recovered.
