Bihar MLC Election Result: Grand Alliance lost two seats, BJP became the largest party, JDU at number two

In the elections held on March 31 for five seats in the Bihar Legislative Council, the grand alliance of seven parties had to bear the loss of two seats. BJP had to lose the Saran teacher’s seat, while JDU had to lose the Gaya teacher’s seat. BJP has won two seats of Gaya graduate and Gaya teacher, although BJP fielded its candidates on all five seats. In the Grand Alliance, JDU has succeeded in retaining the seat of Kosi teacher election. From here Sanjeev Kumar Singh won for the fourth time with a record number of votes. With the increase of two seats, the BJP with 25 members has become the largest party in the Legislative Council. At the same time, JDU is on the second number, it has a total of 23 members (including the chairman).

JDU ahead in Saran and Kosi

In this first election of the Legislative Council after the change of power in the state last year, BJP has got disappointed in Saran and Kosi. Ranjan Kumar, who was nominated by the BJP in Kosi, could get only 599 votes. He stood third.

BJP lead in Magadh and Shahabad

The BJP was able to retain its position in Magadh and Shahabad areas. His victory on the Gaya teacher’s seat was unexpected. New candidate Jeevan Kumar defeated Sanjeev Shyam Singh of JDU. Gaya, a prestigious seat of the BJP, was the seat of a graduate. In the last round of counting of votes, former chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh was successful in winning.

Loss to BJP in Saran

BJP has lost the Saran teacher’s seat after a long time. After the untimely demise of Kedar Pandey, representing here for almost two decades, his son Anand Pushkar was defeated in the by-election. Afaq Ahmed, associated with Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj, won the election here. He was in the fray as an independent candidate. The BJP has also suffered losses in the seats of Saran graduate and teacher. Party stalwart Mahachandra Prasad Singh also had to face defeat in the graduate election seat.

Graduate area: JDU’s Dr. Virendra from Saran and BJP’s Awadhesh from Gaya

JDU’s Prof. Virendra Narayan Yadav has won for the second consecutive time from Saran graduate constituency and BJP’s Awadhesh Narayan Singh from Gaya graduate constituency for the fourth consecutive time. From Saran seat, Prof. Virendra Narayan Yadav defeated Mahachandra Prasad Singh by 5951 votes after counting of first preference. He got 32239 votes. On the other hand, BJP candidate from Gaya graduate seat Awadhesh Narayan Singh defeated Grand Alliance candidate Puneet Kumar Singh. In the seventh round of counting on Thursday, Awadhesh Narayan Singh got 23117 votes and Puneet Kumar Singh got 22624 votes. Earlier, in the counting of votes which started on Wednesday afternoon, there was a close fight between the two.
