Bihar is the most preferred state for political parties, 212 political parties have contested the assembly.

Shashibhushan Kunwar, Patna. Assembly elections are being held in four states of the country. Compared to Bihar, the interest of political parties in these four states is very less. Bihar assembly elections remain the most favorite state for political parties. A total of 212 political parties confirmed their participation in the Bihar Assembly elections 2020 and fielded candidates. There are a total of 243 assembly seats here. If seen in terms of participation of political parties, Uttar Pradesh appears to be the most fertile ground. A total of 286 political parties had participated in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that Bihar is the most favorite state of political parties.

Electoral participation of only 61 political parties in Chhattisgarh Assembly elections

The Election Commission of India has prepared the list of participation of political parties in the assembly elections held after 2017. According to this list, Bihar is a state where six national parties, four state level parties, seven regional parties from other states and 195 registered parties participated in the 2020 assembly elections. If we compare this with the 2018 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, only 61 political parties took part in the elections there. It included six national parties, four political parties from other states and 51 registered parties.

In this, five national parties, seven other state political parties and 107 registered parties had fielded their candidates. Only 86 political parties participated in the Rajasthan Assembly elections 2018, which included all six national parties, seven political parties from other states and 73 registered political parties.

There was participation of 93 political parties in Telangana Assembly elections 2018 which included six national parties, three state level parties, seven political parties from other states and 77 registered parties. The state of political awareness in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan is such that no state level party participated in the assembly elections there. In these three states, regional parties from other states participated but no regional party there fielded its representatives.
