Bihar: High Court strict on delay in Patna-Gaya road construction

Bihar: Patna. The High Court has taken a strict stance on the delay in the construction of Patna-Gaya Dobhi four lane road. Expressing displeasure over the delay in this project, the court has assigned the task of completing it to the DM of Gaya and Jehanabad. On Wednesday, a progress report was presented in the High Court regarding the construction and progress of the National Highway being built in the state by the National Highway Authority. This report was submitted by the National Highway Authority to the division bench headed by Chief Justice K Vinod Chandran. A division bench headed by the Chief Justice is hearing the case.

Diversion and link road to be built

Hearing was held on Wednesday on the PIL filed regarding the construction of Patna-Gaya Dobhi National Highway. During the hearing, a progress report regarding this road was presented in the court by the National Highway Authority. In the progress report filed regarding Patna-Gaya Dobhi National Highway, it has been said that work is going on the construction of this National Highway. Action is being taken to build a link road between Nathupur and Saristabad near Patna. Work is going on to build this link road. The court was told that the road construction work on this national highway has been completed to a large extent, but to completely open the traffic, diversion and link roads have to be built.

The target was to be built in January 2024 itself.

In the earlier hearing, the court had given time till January 19, 2024 to NHAI to submit the progress report regarding this national highway. The court had directed the DM of Gaya and Jehanabad districts to remove the obstacles in road construction. Petitioner’s advocate Manish Kumar told the court that the road construction work has been completed, but due to the link road not being built, traffic is not able to start. There is no movement of people there. The next hearing on this matter will be held again on June 28, 2024.
