Darbhanga. New airline company Akasha is going to start direct flight service from Darbhanga airport to Delhi. It is said that the air service of Akash Air between Darbhanga – New Delhi will start from April 30. AkasaAir has selected Boeing B737-800 Max to start service between Darbhanga and Delhi. The first flight of this aircraft from Darbhanga will take place in the afternoon on 30th April. However, official confirmation is yet to be received from AAI.
SpiceJet’s monopoly ended
Spice Jet had a monopoly on this busy route, which is now ending. It has been more than three years since Darbhanga Airport was started. Therefore, now more than one airline company has got the opportunity to operate direct air services on these routes. Naturally, with the introduction of more airlines, competition regarding ticket prices will increase and people traveling by air will benefit from it. Currently there are three slots for Delhi, out of which two are with SpiceJet and one has been given to Aakasha.
Three airlines had applied
According to the information, a new schedule will be issued from Darbhanga Airport soon. New airlines are going to get slots in the summer schedule only. Apart from Spice Jet on Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore routes, IndiGo and new airline Akash Air will operate direct air services on this route. Last month, apart from Spice Jet, Akash Air and Indigo had requested for slots to operate airlines on Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore routes. It is being said that Air India has also applied to start flight service from Darbhanga and its application is also being considered.

16 planes can take off daily
The departmental process is being completed after two new companies got permission to operate direct flight services on this route. It is said that 16 slots are immediately available at Darbhanga Airport. That means 16 planes can take off from Darbhanga airport every day and the same number of planes can land here. Thus, a total of 32 flights can operate from here daily.
