Bihar: Crack in the main system of Lakhisarai, repair tender canceled

Bihar: Lakhisarai. The ruins of a large Buddhist monastery were found during the excavation that went on for three years from last year 2017 on Lali Hill located at the district headquarters. Since then, voices were being raised regarding its conservation. The responsibility for the conservation of Lali Pahari was handed over to the Building Construction Corporation by the Ministry of Art, Culture and Youth. Tender for its conservation was floated twice by the Building Construction Corporation since last November. But since the same sensor was involved in the tender process both the times, the tender could not materialize due to technical reasons. Lali Pahari remained hopeful of its preservation. Due to this neglect, there has been a crack in the mega system found during the excavation. If it is not conserved in time, there is a danger of its destruction.

Things of archaeological importance are getting damaged.

Due to lack of protection, grass and bushes grow at the excavation site. However, it is also cleaned from time to time. Despite this, the excavation site appears to be affected. Due to the place not being preserved, the things of archaeological importance present here are also being affected. It is being told that the grand structure of a Buddhist monastery was also found at the excavation site, which is quite attractive. Seeing this in 2018, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was quite impressed. After this, he also approved the construction of a museum in Lakhisarai. According to the information, cracks have appeared at many places in the main system installed at the excavation site on Lali Pahari. If work is not done towards its conservation in time, the materials of archaeological importance present at the excavation site may suffer further damage.

…then there will be big loss: Dr. Anil Kumar

Dr. Anil Kumar, Professor of Ancient History and Archeology Department of Visva Bharati University, Shanti Niketan, who led the excavation work of Lali Pahari, said that the DPR was significantly reduced by making unscientific amendments in the earlier DPR. Because of this, suitable sensors for this work are not taking interest. Due to this the tender process is not being completed. If the department wants, it can protect it at its own level also. Because he also has his own resources. Expressing grief over the damage to things of archaeological importance, he said that if it is not preserved in time, Lakhisarai may suffer a lot in the field of tourism. He has personally appealed to the department several times for its conservation. He has also appealed to the CM regarding this.
