Purnia. The police arrested a fake officer who cheated people of lakhs of rupees by pretending to be the Principal Secretary of the Rural Affairs Department. The vicious thug had been harassing the officers for the last four months by threatening them with his position. The vicious thug used to pretend to be an officer on call and get raids done by the police station officer and drug inspector. This came to light when a victim of fraud named Mohd. Bilal Ahmed, resident of Rajni Chowk Bhatta Bazaar of Assistant Treasurer police station area of the city, complained about it to the police.
This was recovered in the raid
The arrested thug has been identified as Mohd Nazir, resident of West Gharari, Kharik in Bhagalpur district. He currently lived in Musafirkhana located on Line Bazar Shiv Mandir Road in the Assistant Treasurer police station area of the city.
During the raid, the police seized 30 checks worth more than Rs 35 lakh, fake arms licenses, a dozen applications for making fake arms licenses, dozens of documents taken from people in the name of getting jobs, four pieces of stamps, related to making fake licenses for fertilizers and seeds. Dozens of documents have been recovered.
Used to get officers to conduct raids by showing off his position
On Friday, Sadar SDPO Pushkar Kumar told in the Assistant Cashier Police Station that for the last four months, a vicious thug was calling the police officers on the phone, pretending to be the Principal Secretary of the Rural Works Department.
Showing the prestige of his position, he used to call City SP Bhagalpur, many DSPs, COs, Police Station Officers and Drug Inspectors and get them raided. He used to call officials on phone and threaten to complain to seniors of the department. Junior officers were troubled by this. Whenever the police went to raid, they had to return disappointed.

SDPO said that on Thursday evening, a victim named Mohd. Bilal Ahmed, a resident of Rajni Chowk Bhatta Bazar of Khajanchi police station area, reached the assistant police station and complained that a thug had extorted Rs 4 lakh from him in the name of getting him a food-seed dealership for his company. He has cheated her and now he is threatening her.
When the police collected the thug’s mobile number from the victim, the number started matching the number saved in the police station’s mobile phone. This turned out to be the same number from which he was being threatened to be raided by claiming to be the Principal Secretary of the Rural Affairs Department. After this the number was traced. On the basis of the location received, the thug was arrested from a hotel room located at the bus stand.
Made more than 50 people its victims
Till now the swindler has made more than 50 people victims of his fraud. Checks worth more than Rs 35 lakh, applications for making fake arms licenses, documents taken from people in the name of getting jobs, four pieces of stamps, documents related to making fake licenses for edible seeds have been found from him. He cheated many people in the name of getting fake licenses for food seeds.
The vicious swindler told that he had formed a fertilizer and seed company named Janjeevan a year ago to cheat people. After this, he cheated people in the name of getting fake licenses for fertilizers and seeds. He used to take this money through check or digital payment.
