Patna. Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Samrat Chaudhary will present the budget for the financial year 2024-25 in both the houses of the Legislature on Tuesday. This is his first budget after becoming Finance Minister. The budget size is likely to increase to Rs 3 lakh crore. The budget will mainly focus on jobs, employment and education along with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s ambitious plan ‘Saat Nishchay Part-2’. The budget of the education department may increase due to giving jobs to two lakh teachers. At the same time, the budget of the Industry Department may also increase.

Bihar’s budget will be around Rs 3 lakh crore

According to information received from Cabinet sources, Budget 2024-25 is estimated to be around Rs 3 lakh crore. In the upcoming budget, employment and education have been kept in the priority category. Most of the total budget will be spent on these areas.

Emphasis will be on increasing the revenue of Bihar

Samrat Chaudhary said that a special strategy will be worked out to increase the state’s own revenue. The budget for the current financial year is Rs 2.61 lakh crore. The state’s share in the budget is less. There is more dependence on the amount received by the state from central taxes. It is the priority of the government to implement poor welfare schemes on the ground. Preparations for the budget for the next financial year 2024-25 are also complete. The welfare and interests of all sections of the society will be taken care of in the budget. In future, the finance department will work for better financial management. It is noteworthy that the Emperor currently has the responsibility of ten departments including finance.

There will be meaningful discussions in the Legislative Council in the budget session: Chairman

In the 206th session of the Legislative Council on Monday, Chairman Devesh Chandra Thakur said in his initial address that in the 11 meetings proposed in this session, there will be meaningful discussions on maximum topics related to state interest and development.
