Bihar: Bagmati water entered half a dozen villages of Darbhanga, 500 acres of crops destroyed by Gandak in Begusarai.

Flood Update: Many rivers in Bihar have taken a terrible form. Crops have been ruined by the havoc of Gandak river. Farmers’ crops of 500 acres have been ruined. River Ganga is flowing above the danger mark. Flood water has entered the low-lying areas. Let us tell you that Bagaha city of Begusarai remains first in supplying green vegetables. But, Gandak has destroyed almost 80 percent of the crops here. The fields are filled with sand.

Vegetable and paddy crops suffered damage

Crops of 500 acres have been completely destroyed. Due to this, farmers are facing a lot of problems. Vegetable crops have suffered huge damage in Ratanmala of Bagaha Nagar in Begusarai district. The river water is ruining vegetable and paddy crops. According to farmers, Nenua crop has suffered maximum loss here. Here, water from Bagmati and Kareh rivers has entered about half a dozen villages of Hayaghat and Hanumannagar blocks of Darbhanga district.

Lives of about 25 thousand people affected

Water has reached the main road connecting Hayaghat block headquarters with the district headquarters. Due to this people are facing problems. About half a dozen villages including Naya Tola, Gharari, Sarai Hamid, Ammadih, Bahpatti, Chhatauna of Hanumannagar block are facing the wrath of the river. Due to the entry of water in the village, the only means of travel for the villagers is boat. The lives of about 25 thousand people are being affected. In Hanumannagar block ward number 5, flood water spread around the middle school. Due to this the children are facing a lot of trouble. Children are going to school risking their lives.

Local people troubled by water logging

The area adjacent to the East Kosi embankment of Saharsa is suffering from water logging. However, the effect of water logging increases during flood and rainy season, due to which the problems of the people increase. The people of the villages of the waterlogged area have to face great difficulties in moving from one place to another for farming and other daily works. In such a situation, keeping a dinghy boat becomes a compulsion for most of the affected families. A farmer from Sonpura-Bariarpur is being offered a gig to buy a boat from a shop at Khojuchak Chowk on NH 107 and take him home.

Water resources department will be more capable in flood forecasting

Water Resources Department will be more capable in flood forecasting. Regarding this, an MoU has been signed between the department and the Central Water Commission on hydro metrological data sharing. During this time, Additional Chief Secretary of Water Resources Department Chaitanya Prasad and Central Water Commission Chairman Kushvendra Vohra were present in the meeting held at Sinchai Bhawan. The topic “Development and Management of Water Resources” was discussed under the leadership of both the officers. On behalf of the Central Government, senior officials of the Central Water Commission, Ganga Flood Control Commission and Central Ground Water Board were present in this meeting. On behalf of the state government, senior officials of the Water Resources Department and Minor Water Resources Department were present.

Child dies by drowning in flood water

Santosh Kumar, 11-year-old son of Jitendra Singh of Meghu Tola village of police station area in Katihar district, died after drowning in the flood water of Ganga river. Jitendra Singh, the father of the deceased Santosh Kumar told that the children were taking bath near the river Ganga. During this my child also went to bathe with the children of the village. The villagers raised a hue and cry about its drowning. Running on the attack reached the bank of the river. By then my son Santosh Kumar had died due to drowning. With the help of the villagers, the body of the deceased child was taken out of the river. The body of the deceased child was brought to the Ahmedabad police station by the relatives. After necessary action in the police station, the dead body was sent to Sadar Hospital Katihar for postmortem. The family members were in bad condition by crying over the incident. There is a mournful silence in the village. It may be known that here the water level of river Ganga is continuously increasing.
