On Sunday, paddy was sown in 2.03 lakh hectare in Rohtas district, 1.78 lakh in East Champaran, 1.24 lakh in West Champaran, 1.15 lakh in Araria, 0.99 lakh in Purnia, 0.94 lakh in Katihar and 0.89 lakh hectare in Gopalganj. A target has been fixed to plant maize in 331367 hectare area this year in case of less rains.

Till last July 14, about 22.22 percent paddy was planted in the state overall. Till that date, only 1.5 percent paddy could be sown in Bhagalpur division. Three per cent each in Magadha and Munger divisions, nine in Patna division, 27 in Saran division, 50 in Tirhut, 15 in Darbhanga, 45 in Saharsa and maximum 55 per cent paddy was planted in Purnia.

Paddy planting in 17 thousand hectare left in Patna

Let us inform that at present, paddy is yet to be sown in about 17 thousand hectares in Patna district. Paddy is cultivated in one lakh 30 thousand hectare in the district. So far paddy has been planted in about one lakh 13 thousand hectare field. According to the sources, paddy planting will be over in the next one week. On the other hand, the sowing of maize has become 100 percent. Paddy is cultivated in all the blocks in the district. But it is cultivated more in seven blocks.

This year, between June and July, the rainfall was deficient by 48 per cent. Because of this, most of the districts of South Bihar were affected.
