Big cities of Bihar gave big revenue, but sale and purchase of property increased in small cities

There has been a spurt in property buying and selling in small and medium towns of Bihar. In 2023-24, the Registration Department has created a new record by obtaining a revenue of Rs 6583.07 crore from the registration of about 15.39 lakh documents. In achieving this record, big cities of the state including Patna participated heavily. But, the statistics of the Registration Department show that the registration offices of small towns topped in achieving the achieved revenue target. The ten registration offices in the top ten are all from small towns and achieved revenue ranging from 131 per cent to 144 per cent of the target. Experts say that due to the increase in the interest of people regarding property in small towns, there was success in revenue by about one and a half times more than the estimate.

Patna district gave about 20 percent revenue of the target

About 20 percent of the target achieved in 2023-24 i.e. Rs 1300 crore was given by Patna district. According to the Registration Department, Patna Sadar received maximum revenue of Rs 533.33 crore in the state. After this, Danapur office of Patna district has 235.78 crores, Phulwarisharif 155.48 crores, Patna City 125.73 crores, Bikram 81.83 crores, Masodhi 42.67 crores, Sampatchak 35.80 crores, Fatuha 20.95 crores, Barh 36.16 crores and Bihta 30.39 crores. Muzaffarpur registration office received more revenue after Patna

Muzaffarpur 227.53 crores, Bhagalpur 198.64 crores, Gaya 174.99 crores, Purnia Sadar 140.61 crores, Motihari 127.70 crores and Darbhanga 115.49 crores were included in the districts giving big revenue after Patna district. 13 registration offices of Bihar gave revenue of more than Rs 100 crore. Katihar, Aurangabad and Arrah (Bhojpur) registration offices were also included in these.

Patna topped in revenue and Muzaffarpur topped in number of documents

According to statistics, Patna Sadar topped in the collection of registration revenue. But, in terms of number of documents registered, Muzaffarpur topped with 34774 documents. Only 21564 documents were registered in Patna. After Muzaffarpur, 31558 documents were registered in Bettiah, 30248 documents in Gaya, 29051 documents in Katihar, 25041 documents in Purnea, 24953 documents in Barsoi, 22376 documents in Samastipur and 22118 documents in Aurangabad.

Revenue of registration department increased due to these reasons

  • From January 1 to March 31, many holidays including Sundays of the office bearers of the Registration Department were canceled and the offices were kept open.

  • Site inspection of the structures mentioned in the registry documents was done by the senior officials, so that there is no loss of revenue.

  • No difference in MVR rates for last seven years and likely to increase from next year

  • By setting up a call center with toll free number 14544, the common people are facilitated by listening to public complaints.
