Big accident averted at Delhi airport, two planes were about to come face to face on the same runway

A major accident was averted at Delhi airport on Wednesday. It is being told that due to the mistake of the air traffic controller, two aircraft of the aviation company Vistara reached on the same runway. An officer has given information in this regard. He told that on knowing about the matter, the controller instructed to stop the flight of an aircraft immediately.

An official said that aviation regulator DGCA will investigate the incident and the air traffic controller concerned has been removed from duty. The incident involved a flight from Ahmedabad that landed at Delhi airport and another flight from here to Bagdogra.

A senior Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official said Vistara’s flight VTI 926 which was to operate Ahmedabad-Delhi flight was involved in the incident. The official said the aircraft landed on runway 29L and was instructed by the air traffic controller to cross runway 29R. He said, at the same time the controller also allowed another aircraft VTI 725 to take off from runway 29R.

According to the official, the air controller concerned has been deroosted and the regulator will investigate the incident. He said that for a moment, the tower controller forgot about the simultaneous passing of the planes and cleared another extension flight VTI725 (Delhi-Bagdogra) to take off from runway 29R. The official said that after realizing the error based on the information received from flight number VTI926, the tower controller instructed flight number VTI725 to cancel the flight.

No comment has been made on behalf of Vistara regarding these incidents.
