Bhojpur DSP Rakesh Ranjan suspended

The Home Department has suspended Bhojpur DSP Rakesh Ranjan on allegations of lapse in security of EVM storage for the Lok Sabha elections. Now a departmental inquiry will also be initiated against him in this matter. The Home Department has issued a notification related to this on Friday.

SOP violation allegations

In the notification issued by the Home Department, it has been said that DSP Rakesh Ranjan has been prima facie found guilty of serious allegations like violating the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) prescribed for EVM storage and security. As a result, he is being suspended with immediate effect.

Now departmental action will be taken

During the period of suspension, Rakesh Ranjan’s reporting will be under Bihar Police Headquarters in Patna. After the suspension, a departmental inquiry will be initiated against DSP (Reserved) Rakesh Ranjan. After investigation, further action will be taken against him. It is noteworthy that the Election Commission of India had recently directed to remove the DM-SP of Bhojpur and Nawada with immediate effect and to suspend the DSP and Inspector of Bhojpur.

The constable deployed for the security of EVM had died

In fact, recently a constable deployed for the security of EVMs in the Krishi Bhawan complex of Nawada police station area of ​​Bhojpur district died after being shot with his own INSAS rifle. Three District Force personnel were put on duty at this center for the security of EVMs. One of these jawans was on leave, while the other jawan had gone out to buy vegetables. At the same time, the constable, resident of Mokama, closed the door from inside and shot himself in the head. After which the Election Commission had issued an order saying that in the Bhojpur incident, the SOP issued for the security of EVMs and strong rooms in August 2023 has been violated. The Commission had ordered to take action in this matter.
