The anti-erosion work has gone into the Kosi river more than 100 meters. Geo bags are getting absorbed in the river. There is resentment among the villagers. Last year, the erosion of Kosi river in Jahangirpur Baisi had caused huge destruction. Due to severe erosion of the Kosi river, the pucca houses of more than 200 families were cut and merged into the river.
The work was done at a cost of Rs 3.40 crore
There is erosion of Kosi river in three lines. The people of the village are afraid of erosion. To stop the erosion of Kosi river, anti-erosion work was done this year at a cost of Rs 3.40 crore. There is work of porcupine in 150 meters on both sides of the erosion. Geo bag work has been done in between. There has been erosion for about a week. In case of erosion, it is restored, but within 24 hours the work of restoration gets washed away in water. More than 100 meters of anti-erosion work in three lanes was washed away in the Kosi river on Saturday evening. However, work is being done day and night to stop erosion there.
Resentment among the villagers
Villagers say that anti-erosion work is being done like cumin in camel’s mouth. Only eight laborers are engaged in anti-erosion work. At the same time, the information about the incident was given to the executive engineer. After getting the information, Executive Engineer Dinesh Kumar, Assistant Engineer Vineet Kumar reached the spot and took stock of the erosion.
The houses of more than 200 families merged in the river.

Allocation of three crore 40 lakh rupees
In view of erosion last year, anti-erosion work worth Rs 3 crore 40 lakh was approved. Let us tell that anti-erosion work has also been done here. But a lot of irregularities were done in anti-erosion work. The villagers complain that the work was not done properly. The anti-erosion works could not withstand the mild pressure of the Kosi river and the anti-erosion works are being cut and merged into the river. The Water Resources Department has become a mute spectator.
Then the villagers protested
The villagers said that we had protested against the irregularities in that work, but it had no effect. Last year, the house of half the family of Jahangirpur Baisi village was cut and merged into the river. If the erosion is not stopped this time also, then the whole village will be destroyed.
