According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave will continue throughout the month of April in South Bengal. The heat will be intense during the weekend. The temperature will also increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of severe heat in Medinipur, Jhargram, West Burdwan and Bankura on Thursday and Friday. Red alert has already been issued. Orange alert has been issued by the Meteorological Office for Kolkata and other districts of South Bengal. This includes parts of Birbhum, East Burdwan, South 24 Parganas districts.

The heat will also affect the northern districts. Heat wave will continue in Maldah, North and South Dinajpur. Maldah and North Dinajpur are under orange alert. Yellow alert has been issued in North Dinajpur. There is no chance of rain. However, rainfall will increase in the upper 5 districts of the North. According to the weather office, the mercury may rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius in Gangetic West Bengal in the next three days.
