Panagarh, Mukesh Tiwari: In view of the dilapidated condition of the bridge on the Kankasa Coonoor river in the middle of Panagarh Ilambazar 14 road between West Burdwan and Birbhum districts, the vehicular traffic on the road has been disrupted by the district administration from Tuesday till September 30. This is an important road connecting North Bengal to South Bengal. Vehicles going towards Birbhum via Kolkata, Burdwan have to go through this state highway. There is a bridge over the Coonoor river on this road in Kankasa police station area of ​​West Burdwan.

The dilapidated bridge will be repaired

This step has been taken by the administration in view of its dilapidated condition. The bridge had become weak due to lack of repairs and heavy traffic. However, big lorries, trucks, dumpers and passenger buses pass through this bridge. Huge cracks had appeared in the weak bridge. Recently some renovation work was done on the bridge but the work has not been completed. The Works Department has again taken the initiative for renovation. Therefore, the administration has announced a complete ban on traffic on this bridge from today till midnight on 30th September.

Demand to provide alternative drinking water

Meanwhile, due to the cutting of the water pipeline of the Public Health Technical Department passing near the bridge for the repair of the bridge, a severe drinking water crisis has started in Piariganj area. The villagers have expressed anger against the works department. He demanded to provide alternative drinking water. Durgapur SDO Saurabh Chattopadhyay has talked to the Public Health Technical Department and assured to resolve the problem soon.
