Bengal STF arrested three smugglers with drugs worth Rs 1 crore

Kolkata, Vikas Kumar Gupta: On the basis of secret information, West Bengal Police special task force (STF) team has arrested three drug smugglers with drugs worth Rs 1 crore. A woman is also included in this. The names of the arrested accused have been given as Abdul Hameed alias Burhan (35), Sohail Rana Shaikh (35) and Mrs. Gayatri Haldar (69). In this, Gayatri is said to be a resident of Lalgola of Murshitabad. The remaining two accused are said to be residents of Palashi Pada in Nadia district. One kilo and 100 grams of contraband morphine drugs have been seized from their possession. Its total price in the market is said to be Rs 1 crore.

How did the arrest happen?

Bengal STF sources say that they had received news that a woman was going to come to Murshidabad from Guwahati with a large quantity of valuable drugs for delivery. Only after this information, the Murshidabad unit of STF was alerted. Suspicious activities were being monitored in various areas. Suddenly the STF team became suspicious after seeing a woman. The woman met two other people and handed over a bag she had with her to the two youths. Both the youths had moved ahead some distance from there with that bag, meanwhile the STF team along with both the youths also caught the woman who had brought that bag. Upon examination of the bag, 1.010 kg of contraband morphine drugs were recovered inside.

Drugs were being brought from Murshidabad to Kolkata

According to STF sources, the arrested youth told that as per their order, the woman had taken the banned drugs from drug suppliers operating in Guwahati and reached a place in Murshidabad. Both the youths, residents of Nadia, were going to take the drugs from the woman there and come to Kolkata and supply them to various places in the metropolis as well as various districts of the state. Before he could leave Murshidabad for Kolkata with the drugs, he was arrested. By interrogating the arrested accused, the Bengal STF team is trying to reach other people involved in this gang. The seized drugs have been sent to the forensic lab for further investigation.
