Bengal: CPI(M) strict on leaders supporting BJP, action taken against 150 supporters

After losing power in West Bengal in 2011 after 34 years, the stars of CPI(M) are in decline. At this time, the CPI (M) leaders are leaving no stone unturned to strengthen the party again. In fact, the supporters of the CPI (M) still consider the Trinamool Congress as their anti-pole. They even vote for BJP to defeat Trinamool. This thing has also come in the review of the party. Compared to the CPI(M), which was in power for 34 years, the BJP’s strength has increased in Bengal. It is currently in the role of opposition in the state, while the CPI(M) leaders see the BJP as a political enemy. The CPI (M) has started action to curb such supporters of the party who are supporting the BJP in the elections.

CPI (M) has started a plan to strengthen the party again

According to the information, so far action has been taken against 150 party supporters. The work of gathering information about the rest is going on. However, the state leadership had also given a strong message within the party regarding this several times. But many of the winning panchayat members have supported the BJP in the district in violation of the party’s ‘guidelines’. In view of the information received after the investigation, organizational action has been initiated against hundreds of party leaders. Some are being expelled from the party, while some are being let off with a warning. Many have also been suspended. The CPI (M) leaders have made it clear that there will be no compromise on the question of policy.

We are taking steps in an organizational manner: Sujan Chakraborty

Senior party leader Sujan Chakraborty said that we are taking steps in an organizational manner. Our aim is to stop BJP and Trinamool Congress. So far eight people have been expelled from East Medinipur. Five people have already been shown the way out in Hooghly. Many other leaders and workers are on the target of the party. This type of problem is being seen in many districts of the state. Steps are also being taken to take action against those who are not members of the party. By distributing pamphlets at these places, people are being told that the party has no contact with the concerned person.

There was no order for the members to go to the Panchayat office on the day of board formation

The CPI(M) had ordered many members not to go to the panchayat office on the day of board formation in many districts. Party’s Hooghly district secretary Debabrata Ghosh said that where we have been able to get the numbers, we went there only on the day of formation of the board. At other places it was decided to take oath later. To avoid such incidents, we took these decisions in the party. Nadia District Secretary Sumit De said that out of 185 gram panchayats in the district, we have representatives in 120.

CPI(M) increased its vote share

Out of these 120, 18 to 20 panchayat areas have been accused of supporting the BJP. The whole matter is in the eyes of the party. Where evidence of direct involvement is being found, the member concerned is being expelled. If evidence of involvement of any leader with BJP is found, he will be punished. It was also revealed in the review that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the vote of the Left almost ended and went to the BJP camp. However, later the CPI(M) increased its vote share. Under the leadership of Mohammad Salim, the CPI(M) started turning its attention towards reorganizing the party. The process after the Panchayat elections is a part of that.
