What is the reason for polluted air in Bihar?

According to the information received from the Pollution Control Board, due to sudden stoppage of westerly wind for two days, the amount of PM 10 particles and PM 2.5 particles in the atmosphere of the cities has increased. Scientists of Pollution Control Board say that at present, change in weather in Bihar can also be a major reason for this. Every year the problem of air pollution increases with the arrival of cold in Bihar. According to media reports, one of the many reasons for polluted air is burning of stubble and other wastes. Whereas, construction work in the open, transportation of soil and sand without covering, dust on the roads and heavy traffic also pollute the air. During low temperatures and cold weather, dust often comes closer to the surface and pollutes the air.

Why did pollution increase in Bhagalpur?

Bhagalpur district is also affected by pollution. The station and Burari area of the district is being found quite polluted. Often the AQI here is recorded beyond 400 which falls in the category of severe. Even before Diwali, the AQI of the city was beyond 400. Whereas after Diwali it has been recorded many times more. Pollution is also increasing in the city due to dust particles. Due to poor air quality, respiratory patients are facing more problems. In cold weather, due to inversion, the mixing height decreases and comes closer to the surface. Due to decrease in temperature the concentration of pollutants increases. The effect of cold is increasing in Bhagalpur district. There is fog and cold wind blowing from evening till morning. The minimum temperature reached 13 degrees in the morning. At the same time, the maximum temperature was 29.4 degrees. Dry westerly wind kept blowing slowly throughout the day. At the same time, the air pollution situation of the city remained very bad. The maximum air quality index was 366. According to the Rural Agriculture Meteorological Service of BAU Sabour, there will be a decrease in the maximum and minimum temperatures in Bhagalpur between 24 and 28 November. The sky will also be clear. During this period the western wind will continue to blow.

Shadow haze due to pollution in Bihar

Talking about the weather of Bihar, this winter will be less shivering. The temperature is likely to be slightly higher than normal during the winter season. There are chances of this happening due to ‘El Nino’ effect. The temperature in the month of November has been slightly higher than normal. There is fog in the state these days. Experts of the Meteorological Department say that this haze is not being seen due to low temperature but due to pollution.
