Bareilly: Two constables suspended for attacking mounted police personnel, FIR registered, action against 90 so far

Bareilly: Two drunk constables posted at Subhash Nagar police station in Bareilly assaulted a horse constable of the police line. The cavalry constable was injured due to the attack with the iron rod. On being found guilty after investigation, SSP Prabhakar Chaudhary lodged an FIR against the accused constables in the city police station. With this both have been suspended. The SSP has earlier taken action against about 90 policemen convicted in various cases.

Horse rider Dishant Rajput posted in Bareilly Police Line was passing under the Chopla bridge along with his fellow constable Shivam Kumar. Meanwhile, constables Yashwant Singh and Ramu Singh of Subhash Nagar police station beat him up under the influence of alcohol. In this case, horse constables Dishant Rajput and Shivam Kumar complained to the officers.

After the complaint, investigation was given to CO First Shweta Yadav. The officers instructed CO First and Inspector Subhash Nagar to check the duty. In this, it was confirmed that both the constables were absent from duty. He was called to Subhashnagar police station. But, he did not even come to the police station. Because of this, an FIR has been registered against both the accused constables in the city police station under crime number 213/23 under sections 323, 504, 506.

Along with this, the SSP sent constables Yashwant Singh and Ramu Singh, accused of committing serious acts and tarnishing the image of the police department, even after being in a disciplined force like the police, under the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Category Police Officers (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1991. is suspended with immediate effect under the provisions of rule 17(1)(b).

It is said that the soldiers of the Mounted Police had gone to the market for some work after counting at night. He was returning from under the Chaupula rail bridge. He saw that constable Ramu Singh was drinking alcohol on the road in front of the tea shop near the liquor shop. When he refused to drink alcohol in a public place, he got angry. Constable Ramu Singh is accused of breaking the head of horse constable Shivam Kumar with an iron rod after abusing him. Two other soldiers are also being told along with him, who are absconding after the incident.
