UP Municipal Elections: The expenditure of Uttar Pradesh Municipal Elections, 2023 has increased. The corporator candidates of Municipal Corporation will be able to spend up to Rs.3 lakh. Although earlier the expenditure limit of the councilor was Rs 2 lakh. The expenditure limit for the Mayor candidate of the Municipal Corporation has been increased to Rs 40 lakh. It was earlier Rs 25 lakh. But, this time the mayor candidate will be able to spend Rs 15 lakh more. Along with this, the expenditure limit of Municipality and Nagar Panchayat President (Chairman) has also been increased, while the nomination fee and security amount have also been increased.

Nomination process will start in Bareilly from April 17

Municipal elections in Bareilly are in the second phase. The nomination process will start here from April 17. Which will be completed by 24 April. After this, there is voting on 11 May and counting on 13 May. This time the candidates will have to spend more in the elections. A letter has come from the State Election Commission regarding the expenditure of the candidates. The mayoral candidates will be able to spend up to Rs 40 lakh on municipal corporations which have 80 or more wards.

The number of wards in Bareilly Municipal Corporation is 80. With this, the mayoral candidate here will also be able to spend up to Rs 40 lakh. Earlier this amount was Rs 25 lakh, but where the number of wards is less than 80, the candidates will be able to spend Rs 35 lakh. Till now this amount was 20 lakhs. The candidates for the post of municipal councilor will be able to spend a maximum of three lakh rupees in the election, till now this amount was two lakh rupees. There are 25 to 40 wards in the municipality, the expenditure limit for the claimants of the president there was till now six lakhs. But now it has become 09 lakhs. With this, the candidates of Bareilly’s Nawabganj, Bahedi, Amla and Faridpur municipality president (chairman) will be able to spend Rs 9 lakh.

The contenders for the post of president in the municipality will be able to spend 12 lakhs

In municipalities with 41 to 55 wards, the claimants for the post of president will be able to spend 12 lakhs. It was earlier 08 lakhs. Municipality members will be able to spend up to Rs 2 lakh instead of Rs 1.5 lakh. The election expenditure limit has also been increased for the candidates for the posts of Nagar Panchayat president and members. The maximum limit of election expenditure for the post of President has been fixed at Rs 2.5 lakh, which was till now Rs 1.5 lakh. The maximum limit of expenditure for the members has been fixed at Rs 50 thousand, till now this amount was Rs 30.

Increase in nomination fee and security deposit of candidates

The nomination fee for the general category mayor candidates has been fixed at Rs 1000 and the security deposit at Rs 12 thousand. For the reserved category, the enrollment fee is Rs 500 and the security deposit is Rs 6000. There will be 400 enrollment fee and 2500 rupees as security deposit for municipal councilor general. For the reserved category, the enrollment fee is Rs 200 and the security deposit is Rs 1250. 500 nomination fee and Rs.8000 security deposit will have to be given for Municipal President general category.

For the reserved category, it will be an enrollment fee of Rs 250 and a security deposit of Rs 4000. The nomination for municipality member general category is Rs 200 and the security amount is Rs 2000. For the reserved category, Rs 100 nomination and Rs 1000 security deposit will have to be given. The nomination fee for Nagar Panchayat President is Rs 250 and the security amount is Rs 5000, whereas for the reserved category Rs 125 nomination and Rs 2500 security deposit has been fixed. Similarly, for the post of general member, Rs 100 nomination fee and Rs 2000 security deposit, while Rs 50 nomination and Rs 1000 security deposit will have to be given for the reserved category.
