The continuous narrowing of the drain and illegal construction on its banks contributed significantly to worsening the situation. This is the reason that when excess water came at once, people’s homes were destroyed. Notices were issued several times by the District Administration and Municipal Administration to remove these illegal encroachments, but this action remained limited to papers only. The Meteorological Department is also warning of heavy rain on Tuesday, so it is expected to take a long time for the situation here to become normal.
