In 1528, Babar had built the Babri Masjid in Agra and on 26 December 1529, when Babar died. His funeral prayer was also offered in this mosque. In front of this mosque, Babar’s dead body was also kept in Charbagh for 6 months. Which was later buried in Kabul.

According to Mughal history, Babur came to Agra for the first time on 10 May 1526. Before this, his younger son Humayun captured the Agra Fort and looted all the treasures of the fort. Humayun had camped in the eastern region beyond Yamuna for security. Today it is known as Etmaddaulah. Babur had constructed Arambagh and Charbagh and in front of Charbagh he had got the Babri Masjid built in 1528. In which even today five afternoon prayers are offered daily. At the time of Babur, Charbagh was Pash area.

Imam Hafiz Mohammad Harun of Agra’s Babri Masjid told that Namaz is read for all five times in the mosque. But most of the worshipers come here only on the day of Friday prayers. On this day the number of Namazis here would have been more than 500.

First the mosque was built by Babur

Imam Mohammad Haroon told that his third generation is serving in Babri Masjid. The new generation is also being trained here. This is the oldest mosque of Agra. Earlier there were no followers of Islam in Agra and neither was there any mosque anywhere. First of all Babar had got the mosque built. But today very few people know about this historical Babri Masjid.
