Auto Sales: People from all over the world flocked to the vehicles of the country’s domestic Tata Motors and its owned car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover. Tata Motors sold 3,77,432 units of its vehicles worldwide in the March 2024 quarter with an increase of 8 percent. At the same time, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) sold about 4,436 units of its car models with an increase of 81 percent during the financial year 2023-24.
Eight percent increase in Tata Motors sales
According to media reports, Tata Motors’ global wholesale sales stood at 3,77,432 units with an annual growth of eight percent in the fourth quarter of the financial year ending March 31, 2024. The company said in a statement on Wednesday that global wholesale sales in the passenger vehicle segment stood at 1,55,651 units in the fourth quarter with a growth of 15 percent. It said global sales of Jaguar Land Rover stood at 1,10,190 units in the March quarter, up 16 percent year-on-year. This does not include the figure of the joint venture with China’s Chery Automobiles.
JLR India sales increase by 81 percent
At the same time, Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover’s retail sales in India have increased by 81 percent to 4,436 units in the financial year 2023-24. JLR India said in a statement on Wednesday that the annual growth of 81 percent is one of the company’s best performances since its entry into the Indian market in 2009. This is the highest figure in the last five years.

Huge increase in sales of Range Rover and Defender
The company said that in the sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment, retail sales of Range Rover and Defender have increased by 160 percent and 120 percent respectively on an annual basis. JLR said that the sales growth rates of the new models ‘Discovery Sport’ and ‘Range Rover Evoque’, which will come in the market in 2024, have been 50 percent and 55 percent respectively. JLR India Managing Director Rajan Amba said that last year the company made many records in retail sales, due to which the company reached a strong position at the end of the financial year.
