Assembly by-election: BJP bets on Dara Singh in Ghosi’s arena

Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made preparations to place bets on Dara Singh Chauhan, who left the Samajwadi Party, for the by-election to be held in the Ghosi (Mau) assembly seat of Purvanchal region. UP BJP has taken this decision after a high level meeting on Thursday late evening. Members of the core committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party arrived late evening at the Chief Minister’s official residence (5 Kalidas Marg) to decide the name of the candidate from the Ghosi assembly constituency, which fell vacant after the resignation of Dara Singh Chauhan. For the Ghosi assembly seat Voting will be held on 5 September. The counting of votes will take place on September 8.

Official announcement as soon as the seal of the Central Parliamentary Committee

In the meeting of the BJP core committee, it was agreed that Dara Singh Chauhan should be made the candidate. This proposal of the Core Committee will be sent to the Central Parliamentary Committee of the party for approval. An official announcement will be made as soon as the Central Parliamentary Committee is approved. Earlier, Dara Singh Chauhan had reached the state headquarters of BJP in the afternoon. There the party’s State BJP President Bhupendra Singh Chowdhary and General Secretary (Organization) Dharampal Singh met. There was a political stir only after this meeting which took place after the by-election was announced.

Fought 2022 assembly elections with SP

Former minister Dara Singh Chauhan left the Bharatiya Janata Party just before the 2022 assembly elections. He had gone with the Samajwadi Party. He contested the 2022 assembly elections from Ghosi seat on SP ticket and won it. He could not stay with SP for long. A few days back, he left the SP and rejoined the BJP. He had resigned from his assembly membership before joining the BJP. As soon as he came to BJP from SP, there were rumors of including former minister Dara Singh Chauhan in the Yogi cabinet.

Rajbhar – Dara Singh can become minister in August

On Thursday afternoon, when former minister Dara Singh Chauhan first came out to meet the state president Bhupendra Chaudhary and then the general secretary, the discussion started. The discussions came to an end after a few hours. In the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the name of Dara Singh Chauhan was agreed upon in the meeting of the BJP Core Committee and this news also came out. Sources claim that by the end of August Dara Singh and former minister Omprakash Rajbhar can be sworn in as ministers to be included in the cabinet of the UP government. BJP President Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, General Secretary Organization Dharampal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya, who attended the meeting of the Core Committee, also discussed about the success of Meri Mati-Mera Desh, Har Ghar Tiranga.
