Ashok Leyland to set up greenfield EV manufacturing unit in UP, MoU signed in presence of CM

Lucknow: Ashok Leyland, the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, will set up an electric bus manufacturing unit in UP. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between Ashok Leyland and the Uttar Pradesh government in a program organized in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday. Welcoming Ashok Leyland in UP, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that today is a historic milestone for the people of Uttar Pradesh.

Till 06 years ago, industrial groups used to avoid coming to UP.

CM Yogi said that it was a matter of surprise that Ashok Leyland could not have its presence till now in a state with a huge population of 25-30 crores and the country’s largest youth capital. In this sense, today is a historic day. The UP government is committed to providing security and facilities to every investor. The industrial groups which avoided coming here till 06 years ago, are expanding their establishments after coming here today.

Decision to invest in Uttar Pradesh is timely

The Chief Minister said that Ashok Leyland’s decision to invest in Uttar Pradesh is timely and the entire Hinduja Group will benefit from it. This step of Ashok Leyland is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Where the country is determined to reduce dependence on traditional fuel options. The Uttar Pradesh government is keen to attract private sector investment in line with the Net Zero Mission. Reducing emissions through cleaner public and freight transportation is an important step in that direction.

Most EVs registered in Uttar Pradesh

CM said that the state government is continuously working towards the manufacture and operation of electric vehicles. We have also issued a state policy in this regard. Today most EVs are registered in Uttar Pradesh. Now we are working towards developing more and more charging stations. Electric vehicles are being included in the UPSRTC fleet. EVs are being operated in various cities.
