Asansol, Ram Kumar: A young man drowned in the Garui river while taking a bath near Siddiq Bridge in Railpar area of Asansol. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the search for the youth was started from the local people. After about 20 hours of effort, the body of the young man could be taken out. The search for the dead body was being done with war-time readiness. Along with the family of the young man, the people of the area have also created an atmosphere of panic. The river is being cleaned by the Municipal Corporation with JCB machine. It is being told that the dead body of the youth was wrapped in a hyacinth plant. At present, the body has been taken out of the river. NGO, Peace India NGO met the deputy mayor and chairman of the corporation and discussed about the immediate cleaning of the Garui river. It was told on behalf of the NGO that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also be met regarding the cleanliness of the Garui river. Asansol Municipal Corporation Chairman Amarnath Chatterjee and Deputy Mayor Abhijit Ghatak met NGO, Peace India founder and chairman Firoz Khan and president Pradeep Prasad regarding the problems of Garui river. There was a discussion regarding the immediate cleaning of the Garui river. Firoz Khan told that many times the people of the rail crossing have to suffer from its problems. He met with Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Abhijit Ghatak and Chairman Amarnath Chatterjee.
