New Delhi : Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi has taken a big step just a few hours after the Supreme Court gave transfer-posting rights to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. He has removed Ashish More, secretary of the service department, from his post. The Supreme Court, while giving a unanimous verdict on Thursday, said that the Delhi government has legislative and executive powers in respect of services other than public order, police and land.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told a press conference that there would be a major administrative reshuffle in the government and warned of action against officials obstructing public works. Before the court’s decision, the service department was under the control of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said after the Supreme Court’s decision to give the administration of Delhi’s services to the government of the national capital, that now the work will speed up here, because earlier his hands were tied. He also announced that officials who ‘obstructed’ the work of the public would ‘face the consequences’.

Officers will have to bear the consequences

In a press conference held after the cabinet meeting at the Delhi Secretariat, Kejriwal said those officials who obstructed public works would face the consequences in the days to come. He said that I was thrown into the water with my hands tied, but despite all the odds, we kept swimming, we did good things for Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal thanked the people of Delhi for supporting him in this fight. He said that he will work for a government with fewer members, responsible and compassionate. He said that we have given the model of education to the country. Now work will be done at ten times more speed than before. Delhi will present the ideal of good governance for the whole country.

ACB is not with Delhi government

When asked about the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Kejriwal said that ACB is not with us, but now the Vigilance Commission is with us. Disciplinary action can be initiated against those officers who are not working properly. At the same time, Delhi Mayor Shaili Oberoi welcomed the decision given by the Supreme Court on the issue of service between the Center and Delhi, calling it a ‘big victory’ for the people of the national capital and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
