Arvind Kejriwal: Will Arvind Kejriwal run the government from Tihar Jail?

Arvind Kejriwal: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal was produced in the court of Special Judge Kaveri Baweja at Rouse Avenue Court on Monday after the completion of his Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody period. From where the court sent him to judicial custody for 15 days. The ED demanded the court to send Kejriwal to judicial custody for 15 days, saying that the Chief Minister did not cooperate at all during interrogation.

What will be the problem in running the government from jail, will Kejriwal have to resign?

After shifting to Tihar Jail, clouds of crisis are looming over the Delhi government. Arvind Kejriwal has not yet resigned from the post of Chief Minister. By the way, how will he run the government from Tihar Jail is a big question. On the process of running the government from jail, former PRO of Tihar Jail Sunil Kumar Gupta said, it will be very challenging. There should be a personal staff with the CM. There are 16 jails, none of them have any facilities from where the Chief Minister can run the government. For this all the rules have to be broken. No one will allow so many rules to be broken.

Running a government doesn’t just mean signing files.

Former Tihar Jail PRO Sunil Kumar Gupta said, running the government does not mean just signing files. To run the government, cabinet meetings are called, ministers are consulted and there are a lot of employees, there are meetings or telephone conversations with the LG. There is no telephone facility in the jail. Apart from this, many people come to meet the Chief Minister with their complaints. Meeting people is the most important part of the Chief Minister’s duty. These things are very difficult, while living in jail.

It is impossible to make CM office in jail

While talking to news agency ANI, former PRO of Tihar Jail, Sunil Kumar Gupta said, it is impossible to create a CM office in the jail. The jail administration can declare any place as a special jail. If they want, they can declare the house also a jail. You can also declare the office a jail. If this happens, the Chief Minister can only sign the files. But there can be a big problem in this too, because the place where the special jail will be made will have to have staff there also. Not everyone will have the opportunity to meet the Chief Minister. The staff will allow anyone to meet only after asking the Supreme Court. He told that prisoners in jail can talk to their families for 5 minutes every day and all this is recorded.

Action may be taken if prisoner gets additional facilities

Sunil Kumar Gupta, former PRO of Tihar Jail, said that according to the jail rules, no prisoner can be given additional facilities. The prisoner remains under special surveillance of the jail administration. The facilities can be provided as per what is given in his jail manual, if any additional facilities are provided, then the jail administrator or the court can take action. He gave the example of Satyendra Jain. Satyendra Jain had reached Tihar Jail when he was the Jail Minister in the Delhi Government. Action is being taken to provide them additional facilities. So in such a situation no one avoids providing additional facilities.

When Kejriwal became the first Chief Minister of the country, he went to jail while in office.

Arvind Kejriwal has become the first Chief Minister of the country to be arrested while still in office. He also went to jail while in office. Earlier, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was arrested by ED, before his arrest Hemant Soren had submitted his resignation to the Governor. Another case is also from Bihar. In which when former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad was arrested, he had resigned from the post before his arrest and made his wife Rabri Devi the Chief Minister.

ED arrested Arvind Kejriwal on March 21

It is noteworthy that ED had arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in the money laundering case related to liquor scam. The next day, Special Judge Baweja sent him to ED custody till March 28. Later the court sent him to ED custody till April 1. The ED has accused the AAP leader of being “involved in the entire conspiracy of the Delhi liquor scam which included policy making, implementation, giving benefits, taking bribes and using the money earned from the crime in the Goa Assembly elections.”
