Arvind Kejriwal News: India angry over Germany’s comment on Kejriwal’s arrest

Arvind Kejriwal News: The Foreign Ministry said that German Ambassador Georg Enzweiler was summoned by the Foreign Ministry officials and told that the German Foreign Ministry’s comment on Kejriwal’s arrest is interference in India’s judicial process. The ministry said that any ‘preconceived notion’ is completely unwarranted.

The spokesperson of the German Foreign Ministry had taken cognizance of the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. The German official had said, we believe and hope that the standards related to the independence of the judiciary and fundamental democratic principles will also apply in this case.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Embassy of Germany in New Delhi was summoned today and conveyed India’s strong protest over his MEA spokesperson’s comments on our internal matters. He said, we view such comments as interference in our judicial process and undermining the independence of our judiciary. Jaiswal said, India is a vibrant and strong democracy with rule of law. As in all legal matters in this country and elsewhere in the democratic world, the law will take its course in this case. Preconceived notions in this regard are completely undesirable.

ED arrests Arvind Kejriwal after setback from Delhi High Court

After not getting relief from arrest from Delhi High Court, the ED team reached the Chief Minister’s residence on March 21 and arrested CM Arvind Kejriwal after interrogating him for about two hours. On Friday, ED presented him in the court, from where he has been sent to custody till March 28.

What is the allegation against Kejriwal?

ED has accused Kejriwal, a former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, of receiving several crores of rupees as bribe from ‘South Group’ for preparing and implementing the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Later this policy was canceled. Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju, appearing for the ED, alleged before the special PMLA court that the Chief Minister allegedly demanded Rs 100 crore from some accused of the ‘South Group’ to contest the elections. It alleged that a part of this crime proceeds, amounting to approximately Rs 45 crore, was used in AAP’s election campaign in the Goa Assembly elections.

Many leaders and ministers of Aam Aadmi Party are in jail in money laundering case related to excise policy. In which former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain and MP Sanjay Singh have been arrested by ED. He is being continuously interrogated.
