The JN-1 variant is a sub-variant created by the mutation of the Omicron-286 strain of Corona. Which is now spreading its foot in our country also and has reached 12 states. In view of the increasing spread of JN-1 sub-variant of Corona, the World Health Organization has declared it as ‘Variant of Interest’.

This variant is of mild category

According to a study, due to its infectious nature, it is more powerful than other variants. The possibility of infection with this is 1.2 times more than other Omicron variants. However, despite this, experts also believe that the JN-1 variant is a mild category variant. Also, due to being vaccinated, the risk of life of the infected person is very less. Patients are recovering from treatment at home without facing any complications. Due to this, the infected person is facing more problems like cold and throat pain. At the same time, those whose immunity is weak are also facing problems like viral pneumonia, difficulty in breathing and lack of oxygen in the body.

Be cautious when going out

Due to increasing infection, experts are considering JN-1 variant infection as ‘travel related illness’. Since, on the occasion of New Year, people are continuing to travel within the country and abroad. On top of that, the fall in temperature in winter affects the functioning of the lungs. Due to this, there is a higher possibility of getting flu i.e. influenza, cold and cough. Going to crowded places and not following Covid Appropriate Behavior has increased the risk of spreading JN-1 infection. In such a situation, if you are also going out somewhere, then follow the Covid protocol.

Who is at greater risk?

  • Small children with weak immunity and elderly people above 60 years of age

  • People suffering from other diseases or people with immunocompromised condition due to chronic diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, kidney, hypertension, heart, respiratory, cancer, arthritis etc.

  • Those people who have not received the booster dose of Corona vaccine. Because of this his immunity is weak.

  • Pregnant women with weak immunity.

Keep these things in mind

  • In the present situation, if there is fever, cold or cough, it is better that due to the fear of Covid, the person should first isolate himself at home for two to three days.

  • At this time, eat nutritious and balanced home-made diet.

  • Consume more water or liquid diet. Drinking warm water or hot beverages like tea, coffee, kahwa, soup, turmeric milk is beneficial. Eat sour fruits.

  • Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day as per your ability and choice.

  • Protect yourself from cold. Keep in mind the lack of oxygen due to falling temperatures in winter.

  • If there is any kind of problem, contact the doctor immediately.
