Archers from five states will aim in East Zone Open Archery.

Khunti: East Zone Open Archery Competition started on Friday at Birsa Munda Football Stadium in Khunti under the joint auspices of Khunti District Archery Association and Jharkhand Archery Association in collaboration with NTPC and Khelo India. Chief guest Indian Archery Association President Arjun Munda inaugurated the competition. He also took aim with a bow and arrow. On the occasion, he said that efforts are going on to provide good facilities to the players in the country. Our players are continuously performing well.

Many medals have also been received in recent times. He said that we should take advantage of the opportunities we are getting and move ahead. Good work is being done in the field of archery. Dronacharya awardee Padmashree Purnima Mahato, Indian Archery Association joint secretary Sumant Chandra Mohanty, Jharkhand Archery Association vice president L Murthy, international archery trainers Prakash Ram, D Saishwari Rao, Rajesh Hasdak, Rohit Koiri, Shekhar Lagoori, Shishir Mahato, Karan Karmakar were present on the occasion. , Sumit Mishra, Basant Kumar from District Archery Association, Ishan Jaiswal, Danish Ansari and others were present.

Madhumita and Deepak start with victory

101 archers from West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Chhattisgarh including Jharkhand are participating in the competition. These include international archers Madhumita Kumari, Bhagyavati Chanu, Deepti Kumari, Savita Kumari, Juvel Sarkar, Ruma Biswas and other international level medal winning archers. On the first day of the competition, Madhumita of Jharkhand stood first in the compound girls category and Deepak Kumar of Jharkhand stood first in the boys category also. In the recurve girls category, Ruma Biswas of West Bengal stood first and in the boys category also, Juvel Sarkar of West Bengal stood first.
