Subarnashila Award is being given for the second time
Ghatshila’s cultural literary organization ‘Vibhuti Smriti Sansad’ has announced that the ‘Subernashila Samman’, given every year for notable literary contribution in other languages including Bengali, will be given to Ghatshila’s litterateur Shekhar Mallik along with Dilip Chakraborty and Shanta Chakraborty this year. Last year, this honor was given to important Hindi storyteller Ranendra ji. This year, along with Shekhar, senior Bengali writer journalist Dilip Chakraborty (who is co-editor along with Mitra Sen Majumdar of the book ‘Untold Stories of IPTA and Niranjan Sen’) and Bengali language poet Shanta Chakraborty are also being given this honour.
Shekhar Mallik’s five books have been published
Shekhar Mallik is the National Executive Member of Progressive Writers Association and Deputy General Secretary of Jharkhand State. Till now his 5 books have been published. The country’s well-known writer Shekhar Mallik writes stories of socio-political concerns. His novel Kalchiti on tribal life is very famous and stories like Dianamari, Jungle Mor Duladia are also popular. In the same year, Shekhar received the prestigious youth award of the Indian Language Council, Kolkata. Dilip Chakraborty is an honorary life member of the Kolkata Press Club. He has received the Kalam Sena award. Some of the famous books of Dilip Chakraborty are Tahader Prem Katha, Lock Downer Dinguli and Category Sangramer Sabyasachi etc.

According to the information released by Vibhuti Smriti Sansad, Ghatshila, on the occasion of the 129th birth anniversary of Vibhuti Bhushan Bandyopadhyay, this felicitation ceremony will be organized under a Sahitya Sabha at Vibhuti Manch, College Road (Ghatshila) on September 12, 2023. In this Sahitya Sabha, famous theater director Probir Guha, Sahitya Akademi Youth Award winning English writer Souvendra Shekhar Hansda and many literary lovers and theater artists from Kolkata, Ghatshila and surrounding areas will gather.
