According to a report in DNA, Cine1 Studios has filed a case against T-Series in the Delhi High Court, claiming that the production house has not paid its share in the intellectual property rights of Animal.

The complainant has reportedly argued that the production house had entered into a contract under which Cine1 Studios had a 35 per cent profit share, while also claiming that it is entitled to a 35 per cent share through intellectual property rights .

Saying that the signed acquisition agreement has been violated, Cine1 Studios has demanded that Animal should not be released on Netflix.

In the report, senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, appearing for Cine1, said, “They (T-Series) are collecting all the money, but I have not been given even a single penny… I have a long relationship with them, but they do not respect it.” “Don’t. I had respect for the sanctity of the relationship and the contract, therefore, I did not rush to court.”

On the other hand, senior advocate Amit Sibal, appearing for T-Series, claimed that Cine1 Studios did not invest money in the film and gave up all the intellectual property rights for Rs 2.6 crore.

On August 2, 2022, the contract was amended and Rs 2.6 crore was given accordingly. The next hearing in this case is scheduled to be held on January 18, 2024. It remains to be seen whether the OTT release of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal gets delayed due to this court case or not.
