Patna. Amit Katyal, arrested in the Land for Job case, has withdrawn his petition from the Supreme Court. Amit Katyal, close to Lalu Yadav, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to cancel the case registered against him, which has now been withdrawn. This is a big shock for Lalu family. ED, which is probing the money laundering case regarding taking land in exchange of job in Railways, had recently arrested Amit Katyal, close to Lalu family. ED had presented Amit Katyal in Rouse Avenue Court, from where the court sent Katyal to judicial custody till December 5.

ED arrested on November 11

Actually, ED, while taking action in this case related to money laundering, had arrested Lalu’s close aide Amit Katyal on November 11. Amit Katyal, who was arrested on 11 November, was taken on remand by ED till 16 November. After the end of the remand period, ED produced Katyal in the court and demanded extension of his remand. ED had said in the court that many important clues have been found during the interrogation of Katyal, and it is necessary to interrogate him. After this, the court sent him to ED remand till 22 November.

There is an allegation of taking land in exchange for job

After a long interrogation, today ED again produced Amit Katyal in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. After this, the court sent Amit Katyal to judicial custody till December 5. It is alleged that during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as the Railway Minister, many people had got their land registered in the name of Lalu Yadav and his family members in exchange for getting them jobs in the Railways. Amit Katyal is a businessman. The name of Amit’s company had come up in connection with money laundering in the land-for-jobs case. Amit Katyal had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to cancel the case registered against him, which he has withdrawn.

Who is Amit Katyal?

Amit Katyal is the businessman who had set up a beer factory near Bihta in Patna during the Rabri Devi government in Bihar. A daughter of Lalu-Rabri was also made a director in that company. Later Katyal formed a company named AK Infosystem. This company purchased land on a large scale. Those who sold land to this company also included people whose family members were given jobs in the Railways when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister. According to the investigation of ED and CBI, a company of Katyal had gifted a car to Tejashwi Yadav in 2010. Later, for just one lakh rupees, he had transferred all the shares of his company AK Infosystem in the name of Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav.

Misa and her husband made directors in their company

According to ED and CBI, Amit Katyal gave a loan of about Rs 85 lakh to Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav and then waived it off. A huge amount of money was given as loan to Tejashwi’s company by one of Katyal’s companies, but it was never returned. Katyal had also made Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar directors in one of his companies. Katyal, the owner of many companies, had also given a huge amount as brokerage to Misa Bharti on behalf of his company.
